Green Building Techniques
As a residential builder, Red Shed Woodworks, Inc. is committed to building homes that incorporate various green building aspects. We build well planned homes that have superior indoor air quality, heat and cool themselves with higher efficiency, use materials that have proven durability and meet all the customer's desires.
Recently we constructed a home that has a near zero net energy demand. This home uses a net metered pv solar array, passive solar orientation, rain water collection, high level of icynene insulation, low/no VOC interior finishes, a hot water heat pump and high efficiency hvac and appliances.
One popular strategy for achieving higher energy efficiency is the use of Structural Insulated Panels (SIPS), which speeds up the process of construction and offers a higher r-value than a conventional stick built wall.
We have always incorporated local materials and talent into all our homes. Timbers cut from native woods, hand rails fastened from locally harvested woods and cabinets built from recycled lumber are just some of the uses we have found for these materials. We have deconstructed barns to recycle the wood and incorporated this lumber into some of the homes. We are committed to the "buy local" and green building movements and will be happy to adapt the home design to meet these values.
Turnkey Homes and Services
We build homes from the ground up, handling all the details from site excavation to the final cleaning of the site. No detail is too small to make sure our clients are pleased with the services we provide.
We offer custom cabinets and built ins, built to order in our cabinetry shop in Marshall. The ability to handle every phase of the building process helps reduce the cost of hiring additional subcontractors and allows our clients to have the home finished exactly the way you envisioned.
All of our timber frames are custom cut in our shop, reducing the exposure of the timbers to the elements. The environmental impact of home building is mitigated by our use of locally sawn timbers. Utilizing local materials conserves energy in production and transportation, and supports the local economy.
